Shikamaru's intelligence and careful planning was not only great in his exam battle, but he was also very helpful when Naruto and the gang were chasing Gaara. Other then his laziness we really can't disagree with the decision to make him Chunin. It's funny that Shikamaru is the only one from his class to be promoted, but he's probably the one who least wanted the position. Time is also devoted to Shikamaru, who is promoted to Chunin. It was nice to see some hand-to-hand combat between the two which is not seen very often in Naruto battles. This all culminates to possibly the best 10-minute fight we've had at the end of an episode since the Tsunade arc. These emotions build and build until Naruto walks into the room as his usual cheerful self, which ends up setting Sasuke off and challenging Naruto to a battle. We see all the things that have led to Sasuke getting to this point starting with Naruto's defeat of Gaara and the fact that his brother is more interested in Naruto then himself and after watching these flashbacks of all the mean things that have been said to Sasuke and all the time he has been outdone, you really can't help but understand how he's feeling. This is an interesting episode for Sasuke particularly because he's usually the calm one, but now all his emotions are starting to rise all at once. It's not only anger that Sasuke is feeling, but it's jealousy that Naruto is able to accomplish tasks he fails at. This week started off with a silent Sasuke who is still angry about how he performed in the last mission.
